What ideas, projects or initiatives do you have for next year? What is your main goal?
My main goal as secretary is to increase transparency between the Student Council and the student body. I plan on doing this by reinstating posting quarterly mukbangs to social media as a fun way of keeping everyone updated on the bills Studco has passed and events they’ve run that quarter. Additionally, I want to make the social media more active by posting “bill updates.” I also want to reintroduce the use of forms as a way of getting students’ perspectives on events and music for dances.
What experiences, skills and other qualifications make you a good candidate for this position?
I have extensive leadership experience within the high school, from being captain of the swim team, being a peer leader, and also being a board member of various clubs. These have all prepared me with the communication, organization and teamwork skills needed for Student Council.
How do you plan on being the voice of students while working in conjunction with faculty and admin?
The primary function of Student Council is advocating for what students want. When considering the restraints of school policy, it’s important for people to know why it is that a certain event can’t take place or a song can’t be played at a dance. This allows there to be transparency between the students and admin while being productive. As secretary, I hope to facilitate this transparency by publishing forms and updates to social media.
