What ideas, projects or initiatives do you have for next year? What is your main goal?
Honestly, I just want to make school feel more fun and alive. I feel like the stuff we actually remember is never the tests or the homework, it is the random times we got to hang out and laugh with people. One thing I have been thinking about is doing a school-wide poker and chess tournament. It would not be for real money, but a competitive or just a chill way for people to play and have fun. I also think doing a Roblox tournament would be amazing, especially if we had a prize to hype it up a little. Overall, I just want to give people more things to look forward to and help Lab feel like a place where good memories happen.
What experiences, skills and other qualifications make you a good candidate for this position?
I think I am a good fit because I actually care about making school better and not just doing things to check a box. I like coming up with fun ideas and finding ways to make them real. I have had a lot of experience leading and planning events, too. I am a leader for several clubs like the Kids Allergy Network and Finance Club, where I help plan events and get people involved. I am also part of peer leading, which honestly has so much to do with organizing events and coming up with energizers to get people excited. I have worked with teachers, students, and even staff like IT, so I know how important it is to communicate well and make sure things actually happen. I am someone who does not just talk about ideas, I really put in the work to make them real and get people excited about them, too.
How do you plan on being the voice of students while working in conjunction with faculty and admin?
I feel like being the voice of students means actually taking the time to listen to what people are saying, not just assuming we know. I want to hear what students really want and what would make their school experience better. At the same time, I get that we have to work with the teachers and the admin if we want things to really happen. I would try to find ways to show them that we are not just throwing random ideas at them, but that we actually thought about how to make it work. I want to be someone who can get both sides to trust each other and work together to make school better for everyone.
