What ideas, projects or initiatives do you have for next year? What is your main goal?
My main goal for next year is to create more all-school events to up school spirit between grades and as a collective high school. Some ideas I have are events that reflect what the school does during pep rallies: student vs. teacher games and grade vs. grade games, as well as an all-school picnic when the weather gets warmer.
What experiences, skills and other qualifications make you a good candidate for this position?
I’ve been ASA president since the last month of sophomore year when I was elected. This position has given me a good amount of event-planning experience, what activities are entertaining for high school and what is needed logistically for a successful event. Furthermore, as someone who is a part of many school sports, I’ve helped plan a couple of senior nights. But most importantly, the communities I’ve been a part of have allowed me to meet many students across grades and understand the connections that we can make throughout high school. Additionally, it has taught me how to multitask efficiently, which would come in handy if I were to take on the major role as Cultural Union vice president.
How do you kind of plan on being the voice of students while working in conjunction with faculty and admin?
As someone who has worked in a position where I had to be professional while being fun, a camp counselor at Summer Lab with faculty and admin co-workers, I’ve found that the balance between the two can be quite tricky. My plan is to always stay true to my values and my peers and use my abilities to convey these opinions to the faculty and admin in a proficient manner.
